Today I completed the first draft of my work in progress.
There's still a long way to go, including several more drafts and a good deal of further research, but for the moment I'm enjoying the euphoria of having typed, "The End".
A celebration is in order.

That IS dedication! When I'm reading my book, I will remember that you worked so hard to get it into my hands! I hope that your family forgives the crazy fan who Can't. Wait. to read your masterpiece! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI just finished Second Chances last night. Live in Newfoundland it has been a real treat to imagine the world Amy lives in. Though I have to say and the end of the book I was wondering what happened to Susannah and Thomas, and does Sarah ever meet that special someone? The questions kept me awake half the night. Thanks so much for writing a book that not only took me to a new place but also made me think about it long after I turned off my ereader.

ReplyDeleteIt's endlessly fascinating to me, the range of characters and future events different readers wonder about. I'm particularly fond of Thomas, and though he doesn't actually appear in the work-in-progress we will see more of him (and Susannah) eventually. For the rest: Sarah would tell you that she's perfectly contented as she is. Take that as you will. :)

ReplyDeleteHi Shayne! I just finished the 4 books in the series in about a week and a half. I have 3 kids, so that's a lot of naptime/bedtime reading. Late nights but I couldn't put them down! I am now a dedicated fan and I can't wait to see what happens to the characters who I feel are my friends now. You are very talented and I can tell these books were a labor of love for you. Thank you so much for the amazing experience I have had through your words!

One comment: A minor character that I truly loved in The PTK series was Harry. He was an 1800 "Bad Boy". I so wanted Amy to talk to him, but it was just not to be..., but I did so want to kick Charlie, even when he was dying, I wanted Amy to slap him or something (I had serious issues with Charlie - I am glad he is dead) - but Amy was just not that type of girl.
Loved, loved, loved your writing.

DeleteI love it when people mention a minor character they were particularly taken with. You're one of a select few who've mentioned Harry. :) I'm fond of him, too - he has a good heart.
I think it's quite understandable that you feel that way about Charlie. Amy sometimes surprises even me with what she's capable of!

Shayne I found Sentence of Marriage free for my Kindle. I couldn't put it down. I loved it so much. I bought the other 3 in the series. I just finished Mud and Gold. I love Lizze and Amy so much. I love reading about both of their lives. I can't wait to read more about their lives. I hate Charlie, he is a monster. I love Frank, he is a wonderful man. I hope Amy will have a happy ending. She deserves it! Thanks so much for writing such a wonderful series.
